Welcome,
I enjoyed a 17-year career in professional astronomy holding research positions at institutions including the University of Michigan, the European Southern Observatory, the University of Hawai`i, and the University of Virginia. I had the opportunity to work with many talented people. I deeply appreciate their willingness to share their knowledge and experience. My research focused on X-ray and optical studies of groups and clusters of galaxies, with a particular emphasis on the evolution and distribution of large-scale structure. In 2008 I left academia to pursue quantitative research in the financial sector and establish the investment advisory firm, NorthStar Capital Advisors. * Note, the vintage (read dated) style of this website reflects its origins in the late 20th century.
